Plane crash on Hudson River - USA, New York

An Airbus 320 plane crash-landed Thursday on the Hudson River in New York today, January 15th.

The plane ( US Airways Flight 1549) took off from LaGuardia Airport for Charlotte in North Carolina and it went down on the frozen Hudson River in Manhattan after a collision with a flock of birds apparently disabled both engines.

All 155 are safe; rescue teams of Police and Coast Guard vessels and ferry boats quickly rushed to their aid in a rescue operation. Several boats aproached the plane, which was lowly sinking in the frozen waters of the river. The plane remained afloat long enough to save everybody.

There were no immediate reports of any serious injuries thanks to the effectiveness of the rescue teams.

The photo from above, taken by Twitter user Janis Krums, is one of the earliest photos to appear of the Plane crash into the Hudson River - New York City. Krums apparently took the photo with his phone and uploaded it to the Twitter photo service Twitpic.
